Dear Black Woman from Roberta Carter

A Poem by Roberta Carter

Dear Black Woman,

You rise like the sun, fierce and bright, A tapestry woven with strength and light.

In your laughter echoes Maya's voice, "Still I rise," a triumphant choice.

Phillis Wheatley penned her dreams, In chains yet free, her spirit beams.

Audre Lorde's words, a warrior's call, Breaking barriers, standing tall.

Gwendolyn Brooks' poetic grace, Captures struggles we all face.

Through storms and shadows, you remain, With wisdom and courage, breaking every chain.

Dear Black Woman, your legacy strong, In your presence, we know we belong.
