Dear Black Woman from Keema The Queen Of Possibilities

Dear Black Woman,

Sis, let’s talk.

We are queens of the juggle—wearing multiple crowns, balancing dreams, obligations, and responsibilities, all while carrying the hopes of our ancestors. But let’s be real: sometimes we bite off more than we can chew.

And while our intentions are noble, the weight can become unbearable.

It’s time to create order, sis. Not because you can’t handle it all, but because you deserve better than to constantly live in chaos.

I know this firsthand. I used to pride myself on how much I could carry—multiple projects, helping family, supporting friends, all while trying to climb my own mountain. I had Post-Its on every surface, a calendar packed so tightly it left no room to breathe, and a phone that never stopped buzzing. I was busy, yes, but I wasn’t fulfilled. I remember sitting on the floor one night, surrounded by half-done tasks and unanswered texts, and thinking, “There has to be a better way.”

Order doesn’t mean giving up on your dreams or shrinking your ambition. It means aligning your energy with your priorities. It means taking a step back to ask yourself, “Does this serve me? Does this honor my purpose? Does this fit the season I’m in right now?”

Here’s what I did. I started small. One Sunday, I set aside an hour—just one—to clean off my desk and rewrite my to-do list. I got real with myself about what I could finish that week and what could wait. I said no to a favor that didn’t align with my goals, even though it was hard. And let me tell you, that small act of saying no felt like reclaiming a piece of myself.

We often confuse busyness with productivity, but they’re not the same. Running yourself ragged doesn’t mean you’re running toward your goals—it just means you’re running on empty. And you, my sister, cannot pour from an empty cup.

So let’s do this together:

  • Start with clarity. Write down what truly matters to you in this season.

  • Set boundaries. Protect your time, energy, and peace like the treasures they are.

  • Learn the power of no. It’s not a rejection of others; it’s a commitment to yourself.

  • And finally, give yourself grace. You’re not failing because you’re recalibrating; you’re flourishing.

Dear Black Woman, order is your birthright. When you clear the clutter—physically, mentally, and emotionally—you make room for your greatness to shine through.

I’m living proof. The day I started creating order was the day I started feeling lighter, more focused, and closer to my dreams than ever before. You don’t have to wait for the floor to fall out beneath you to take back control. Start today, one small step at a time.
