Bridging the Gap Between Fitness, Wellness, and Representation
Brittany Biggett-Heeren is not just a fitness coach—she is a movement builder. As the founder of Prismatic Venus Fitness, Brittany is dedicated to making fitness and wellness accessible, inclusive, and empowering, particularly for Black women and families. With a background in health informatics and information management, a passion for fitness, and a commitment to holistic well-being, she is redefining the way health and movement are approached in her community.
Her journey into fitness started long before she founded her business. From taking group fitness classes as a child to becoming a certified instructor, Brittany has always had an intrinsic connection to movement. But when she stepped into the fitness industry, she noticed a glaring lack of representation—and she decided to change that.

The Vision Behind Prismatic Venus Fitness
Brittany launched Prismatic Venus Fitness to create a multi-faceted wellness platform that goes beyond exercise. Her business is not just about sweating in a gym—it’s about creating a holistic approach to health that integrates physical fitness, community support, and health advocacy.
Currently, Brittany is earning her Pre & Postnatal Specialist Exercise Certification to help expecting and postpartum mothers train for what she calls their personal “Olympics”—the journey of childbirth and recovery. Additionally, she is using her healthcare expertise to educate and advocate for better data collection and healthcare tools that improve medical outcomes, particularly for Black women facing maternal health disparities.
Navigating Challenges in Entrepreneurship
Starting a business comes with its fair share of challenges, and Brittany quickly learned that not everyone understood her vision. “Sometimes people don’t see your vision, and they expect you to fit in a box that’s comfortable for them,” she says. Despite facing skepticism and countless “no’s,” she remained steadfast, understanding that success requires a deep commitment even when others doubt the journey.
Another challenge? Balancing entrepreneurship with personal life. Brittany acknowledges that she often burns both ends of the candle. To avoid burnout, she prioritizes scheduling dedicated business hours while regularly assessing whether her workload is sustainable. She also credits her support system, particularly her husband, for encouraging her and helping her stay grounded.

The Wednesday Wellness Debrief Podcast
In addition to growing Prismatic Venus Fitness, Brittany is launching her audio podcast, The Wednesday Wellness Debrief. The podcast will feature fitness and wellness professionals discussing their careers and how they are impacted by one of the nine pillars of wellness. By sharing these stories, Brittany hopes to humanize the fitness industry, breaking down the idea that health and wellness are only for a select few.
Advocating for Representation in Fitness
As a Black woman in the fitness industry, Brittany understands the importance of seeing yourself in the spaces you want to thrive in. She actively works to create inclusive spaces by:
✔ Hosting masterclasses that bring together fitness instructors of color
✔ Using social media to share accessible health and wellness resources
✔ Collaborating with local gyms to make fitness more financially feasible
✔ Encouraging Black women to take up space in the wellness industry
Brittany recalls moments when she walked into Pilates and reformer classes, feeling like the only person of her body size and skin tone. Instead of allowing discomfort to deter her, she pushed through, proving that she belonged in those spaces. Now, she uses her platform to invite others in—ensuring that no one else has to feel out of place.
The Future of Prismatic Venus Fitness
Looking ahead, Brittany envisions a five-year growth plan that includes:
✔ Expanding her YouTube channel to offer fitness classes for multiple populations
✔ Completing her Master’s Degree and using her expertise to advocate for better healthcare policies
✔ Launching a comprehensive pregnancy health coaching program
✔ Creating more wellness content and research on health disparities affecting Black communities
She is also pursuing certifications in youth exercise and postpartum counseling, recognizing that family health starts early. By focusing on both children and parents, she hopes to instill healthy habits that last a lifetime.

Advice for Aspiring Black Entrepreneurs
For Black women hesitant to step into entrepreneurship, Brittany’s advice is simple: Just start. Even if adult responsibilities take precedence, there is value in starting something just for yourself.
“You’re going to get a lot of no’s and meet people who don’t understand your vision. That’s okay,” she says. “Not everyone is meant to be part of your journey. Keep pushing, and the right people will recognize your work.”
