For over a decade, Annterria Bruce has been at the forefront of women's health, leveraging her extensive nursing experience to champion holistic wellness and science-backed feminine care solutions. As the founder of Vagesty, she has turned her passion into a mission, ensuring that Black women have access to trustworthy, natural, and effective products tailored to their unique health needs.

A Nurse’s Journey to Entrepreneurship
Annterria’s journey into business was born out of a desire to create generational wealth while addressing a critical gap in women’s healthcare. Her extensive experience in nursing and women’s health exposed her to the challenges many women face, particularly in receiving proper education and access to holistic care solutions.
“I’ve always been passionate about women’s health,” she shares. “Starting Vagesty was my way of ensuring women have access to natural, effective feminine care products that are backed by both science and holistic healing.”
Overcoming Challenges in Business
One of the most significant challenges Annterria faced in launching her business was securing adequate funding. She started her business by using her own credit and small business loans, which had its limitations.
“I’m still looking for ways to secure funding to scale my business,” she admits. “It’s an ongoing journey, but I believe in Vagesty’s mission, and I refuse to let financial hurdles stop me.”
Despite this challenge, she remained resilient and sought out mentorship from other nurse entrepreneurs to gain insights, share ideas, and develop systems that would help her business grow.
Building a Brand Rooted in Trust and Education
What makes Vagesty unique is Annterria’s dedication to education. She does not simply sell products—she ensures that women are informed about their health and empowered to advocate for themselves.
“When you come to any of my platforms, you’re not just being sold a product,” she explains. “You’re going to learn something about your body. So many women don’t fully understand their anatomy, and it’s my job to change that.”
One of the biggest misconceptions about feminine health she’s working to change is terminology and anatomy awareness.
“Many women don’t know the difference between the vulva and vagina,” she shares. “There’s a lack of knowledge about basic reproductive health, and that needs to change.”

Bridging the Gap Between Science and Holistic Wellness
Annterria ensures that Vagesty’s products are backed by both scientific research and natural healing.
“I encourage women to ask questions, advocate for themselves, and seek proper medical care,” she says. “Too often, Black women’s concerns are ignored in healthcare. That’s why education is such a crucial part of my business.”
Through Vagesty, she provides women with natural feminine care products designed to address common health concerns while ensuring they feel confident in their wellness journey.
Challenges Black Women Face in Healthcare
Black women are disproportionately affected by certain health conditions, including menopause symptoms, breast cancer, and cervical cancer. Many also experience dismissal in medical settings.
“I know this struggle firsthand from working in healthcare,” Annterria says. “I make sure that my clients understand their health risks, how to advocate for proper care, and how to make informed decisions.”
As a strong advocate for early detection, she encourages women to perform monthly breast exams and seek regular screenings to take charge of their health.
Mastering Brand Visibility and Social Media
Initially, Annterria struggled with social media marketing. As a nurse, she was more comfortable in clinical settings than in front of a camera. However, she quickly realized that her presence was key to growing her business.
“When I went viral, I realized that people wanted to see me, hear my voice, and learn from me,” she says. “Now, I embrace digital marketing and use it as a tool to educate and connect with women worldwide.”
Funding a Business as a Black Woman Entrepreneur
Securing funding as a Black woman in business is a well-documented struggle. Annterria’s solution was to use her own savings and business credit before learning about grants, pitch competitions, and additional funding options.
“I was the second-place winner in a pitch competition hosted by the Houston Area Urban League,” she shares. “That experience taught me the importance of networking, pitching my business, and exploring alternative funding sources.”

Lessons Learned & Advice for Aspiring Entrepreneurs
When asked about the biggest mistake she made early on, Annterria reflects on trying to do too much, too soon.
“I wanted Vagesty to be a one-stop shop for all women’s health needs, so I launched multiple products at once. Without the proper funding for marketing, it was overwhelming,” she admits. “I had to scale back and focus on what was selling the most.”
Her advice to young Black women starting a business is simple:
“Look into grants and business credit early.” Funding is crucial, and knowing your options can make all the difference.
“Marketing is everything.” If people don’t know about your business, they can’t support it.
“Build a team.” You can’t do it all alone—having support makes the journey smoother.
“Trust God and don’t give up.” Faith and perseverance are key in the entrepreneurial journey.
The Future of Vagesty
In the next five years, Annterria envisions Vagesty becoming a multi-million-dollar brand, widely recognized and trusted by women everywhere.
“I want to see Vagesty become a household name for feminine care,” she says. “I also want to create a team, expand my product line, and continue educating women.”
Her vision is to position Vagesty as the leading brand for holistic, science-backed feminine health solutions while spearheading a movement that transforms women's health awareness and advocacy.
Leaving a Legacy
Annterria’s legacy is one of determination, faith, and empowerment.
“I want people to say that I never stopped chasing my dream,” she says. “That I worked hard, built something meaningful, and opened doors for others.”
As she continues to grow her business and inspire others, one thing is clear—Annterria Bruce is a trailblazer in women’s health and Black entrepreneurship.
