To be a leader within the Dear Black Woman Global Network is to serve as a catalyst for change, connection, and growth. It means guiding with purpose, upholding a standard of excellence, and nurturing spaces where Black women are heard, seen, and valued. Leadership in this organization is not just about titles—it is about accountability, collaboration, and representing a movement that centers healing, progress, and the collective advancement of women across the globe. Every leader plays a vital role in shaping the legacy and impact of our chapters within their communities and beyond.

Leadership Roles within each Chapter

To become a leader within a Dear Black Woman chapter, members must hold a Legacy Membership or higher consistently for at least one year and demonstrate active involvement through volunteer service or participation on chapter committees. While the initial round of leaders is appointed by Dear Black Woman Global, all future leadership positions will be voted on by the chapter’s active membership to ensure transparency and community accountability. This process reflects our commitment to service-based leadership—recognizing those who show up, contribute, and represent the mission within their local communities.

Media, Content & Communications Manager

This role handles the chapter’s social media, storytelling, and member highlights. They also submit features and updates for inclusion in the regional and global DBW magazines. Must be skilled in writing, content creation, or social media management.

Treasurer & Membership Coordinator

This role manages chapter finances, budgeting, and membership dues. They also lead recruitment and retention efforts, ensuring a strong and engaged member base. Must be detail-oriented with basic financial literacy and experience in member or client services.
